It’s taken me a little while to figure out what this is all about.

Why am I writing? What do I have to say? Months in, I still don’t know if I have the answers to these questions, but I do know that writing has always felt like a natural exercise to me. Terrifying as it is to put my words out there, I have found a solace and release in letting this work become something larger than me. And it has built a beautiful community, bringing me connection and meaning that I never could have had on my own. I hope you’ll become a part of that.

My name is Oren, and I’m finding my way through Kathmandu for 10 months, from March 2022 until January 2023. I live with a Newar family in Kirtipur, and teach at a public school five minutes from my house. Every two weeks, I write an update about my life. This is it.
